Fire in Silver Terrace

Burned hill at Palou-Phelps Mini Park
UPDATE: Well, it turns out the hillside behind the houses on the even side of Bridgeview also burned all the way down to the Palou-Phelps Mini Park.  This hillside burns almost annually, which is really scary, since there are so many houses so close by.  It's unclear at this point if the fire started on the hillside or in a house backing onto it.  Fire usually travels uphill, but SFFD told one of my neighbors that it was a house fire, so I'll go with that for now.

BREAKING NEWS: Silver Terrace Fire

Fire broke out this afternoon on Bridgeview Dr in Silver Terrace.  A resident who lives nearby said that at first she thought it to be a brush fire on the hill, but when she saw thick black smoke rising up, she realized it was a neighbor's house that was ablaze.  Fire crews have reportedly suppressed the fire, but Bridgeview Dr is still closed as paramedics attend to those in the home who may have been injured.

Thank you to friends who called and emailed to alert me to the fire and to check to make sure that my Silver Terrace home was OK.  In turn, I was able to alert neighbors using a great hyper-local website called Nextdoor.
