Boosters Meeting

Tuesday January 29
7PM
Potrero Hill Neighborhood House

While Potrero Hill and Dogpatch are wrestling with an unprecedented wave of large apartment/condo development projects, we’re going to spend most of Tuesday’s Boosters meeting (January 29, 7 pm at the Potrero Hill Neighborhood House) looking at our closest neighbors, the Port, and their building plans for the Giants parking lot (Seawall Lot 337) and Pier 70.  Both have been in the news recently as ideas have inched forward, and we’re getting the first public signs of the substantial height increases they propose.
(An unfortunate highlight of November’s Boosters meeting was Mission Bay’s presentation of their ‘Block 40’ buildings, featuring renderings of the SF Giants’ development proposal for Seawall Lot 337 that throughly blotted out neighborhood views of the Bay Bridge.)
The Boosters have to ask: why is it that small height increases for buildings along the City’s northern waterfront are ferociously controversial (with a referendum on the subject coming up this November), while much larger height increases on our side of the waterfront are presumed to be acceptable?
