Potrero Hill residents living near the Mariposa Street off-ramp from southbound Interstate 280 in San Francisco are well acquainted with the screeching tires, crunching metal and sickening thuds that accompany car crashes.
The off-ramp is tricky to navigate even for seasoned drivers, and dozens of accidents have happened over the years on the ramp and the streets at its base - Pennsylvania Avenue and 18th Street.
