Request for Proposals Portola Neighborhood Art Wall


Project Summary:

Architecture for Humanity (AFH) in Partnership with the Portola Neighborhood Association (PNA) will be completing Phase 2 of a Pocket Park at 1 Burrows St. Phase 1 of the project included transforming a dead end dumping ground into a neighborhood amenity with native plants, trees, a bioswale for water remediation, and porous paving. Phase two will include; outdoor furniture, an information kiosk, bike racks, a succulent green wall, and an art wall. This art wall will be located on a concrete wall along the dead end of Burrows St. and the Bayshore Freeway.
Guidelines and Objectives:
This request is for a proposal for the art wall portion of Phase 2 of the pocket park project. The focus of the art wall is to create a welcoming environment for neighborhood members to enjoy the park. It hopes to increase the sense of mobility in the area and draw activity to the public amenity while extending the energy of the community outward. There is no set medium or subject matter for the art wall aside from appropriateness and respect for the neighbors.

Timeline:
Proposal due: 8/16/13
Proposal execution: October – December 2013


Budget:
$15,000 – $20,000

Proposal Format:
Please submit a written description of your intention for the wall, as well as images of your previous work to be reviewed by the PNA and AFH. The planned work will have to be sketched out later down the road so we may obtain permission from CALTRANS, the landowners.
