I want to thank my friend Stuart, who's usually so full of upbeat news, for finding this depressing database at SFGate, where you can look up your ZIP code to see what percentage of homes are under water (worth less than the owner owes on the original mortgage), as well as what percentage of homes that changed hands during the 12 months ended in September were sold for less than the last recorded transaction.
