FREE Community Affordable Care Act (ACA) Education Day

The San Francisco Chapter of The Links, Incorporated  in support of our Health and Human Services programming continue our outreach to the Bayview Hunters Point community on the topic of Healthcare Reform and it's relevance to the community; more specifically to raise awareness of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) or better known to most as Obamacare.  As you may be aware, we hosted a film screening and panel discussion of "The Waiting Room" , a documentary filmed in the emergency room at Highland Hospital, to the BVHP Community at the Bayview Opera House on June 1st.
Undoubtedly, this was a debut not unlike others over our sixty-three year history of service in San Francisco, yet timely to the importance of the highly impactful issues affecting our service community, Bayview Hunters Point. The dialogue amongst film screening attendees was rich and we delivered a message of self-advocacy and activism; a theme well represented through our preventative health and wellness campaign SFLinksConnect.
"The Waiting Room" film screening event provided a springboard and 'call to action' for deepening the communities understanding of the benefits and fast approaching implementation of the ACA, e.g. Medi-cal Expansion and the Marketplace for more affordable health care plans, as well as changes in Medicare that impact our seniors. You are invited to attend this FREE ACA education day for community residents which includes a panel of ACA experts on this important change in healthcare.
We are partnered primarily with Malia Cohen, D10 Supervisor, California Black Health Network, California Pan Ethic Health Network, San Francisco Department of Public Health/Healthy San Francisco, and AARP among other community organizations.
