Dear Eastern Neighborhoods Community Members,
You are receiving this email due to your past participation in the Eastern Neighborhoods planning process. As you may know, since the Plans got adopted in 2009 the Planning Department has been working with multiple agencies and the Citizen’s Advisory Committee (CAC) to implement the Plans: http://www.sf-planning.org/index.aspx?page=2893
We are pleased to inform you that through that work with the CAC and Area Plan pilot category for the Community Challenge Grant Cycle is opening on August 25, 2014. The Area Plan CCG category is for projects located within the boundaries of the Eastern Neighborhoods (and the Market-Octavia) Area Plans. This category is funded from impact fees generated from new development in each Area Plan. The respective funds are applied to community improvement projects in these areas to accommodate increased use of existing amenities by new workers and residents resulting from new development.
The Community Challenge Grant Program (CCG) provides grants to local community groups, artists, businesses and nonprofit organizations to make physical improvements to their neighborhoods. This year we have an exciting opportunity to implement projects in two specific areas, Market Octavia and the Eastern Neighborhoods. The funds for this program can only be used on capital projects and should focus on streetscape, public realm, recreation and public open space improvements. The grant cycle open on August 25, 2015 and applications will be due on September 29, 2014. The following information sessions have been scheduled to go over the program in more detail:
· SOMA: Wednesday, July 30th, 6:30-8:30pm Bayanihan Center,1010 Mission Street
· Dogpatch: Tuesday, August 12, time location TBD
· Potrero Hill: Tuesday, August 26, 7:00 at the Potrero Hill Neighborhood House, 953 De Haro Street
Feel free to spread the word to organizations you think may be interested. For more information please see the attached flyer, visit the websiteannouncement, or contact Lanita Henriquez.
