he has been very receptive to the issues and concerns of the Potrero Hill community. His long commitment to Potrero Hill as editor of The Voice has shown he's tuned into the special characteristics and needs of the Hill. In this diverse district, it is important Potrero Hill has sufficient representation.
I am voting for Steve Moss because he has worked tirelessly to improve our community. He has helped small businesses and put people to work. Steve's intelligence, judgment, and dedication will be huge assets on the Board of Supervisors. It's time we had someone in City Hall to fight for District 10!
I am voting for Steve Moss for what he has already done for our community: publishing the Potrero View, closing the power plant, making residences and businesses more energy efficient. I am voting for him for what I think he will be able to do for our community: guide development, create jobs, protect our interests. San Francisco politics can be rough. Steve has kept his head and equanimity through some nasty mudslinging while managing to run an honorable issues-based campaign himself. I think that bodes well for his service as District 10 supervisor.
I am voting for Steve because he has the support of the Chambrr of Commerce and downtown. I am tired of petty, neighborhood issues holding back our economic progress. Hopefully, Steve will remember who supported him and help business thrive again.
I completely agree with SadieW. Also, the SFBG has taken on Moss and endorses Kelly. As a moderate Democrat, imo this makes Moss a more attractive candidate.
You don't hire an electrician because they're passionate about green energy -- you hire them because they know they know their way around a circuit panel. People need to hold their politicians to the same standard: don't vote for someone just because they are passionate and sound like they agree with you, vote for the one who actually has the experience and the skills to do the job. Steve Moss has been working in serious public policy for two and a half decades. Of all the candidates, he's the best suited to actually making policy, both by training -- he really knows his stuff -- and by disposition -- he's interested in results, not confrontation.
It's more than that. An electrician - or most any other professional - is hired to perform a narrow task. Fix my toilet. I don't need to know, or care, what the electrician's views and opinions are on anything.
Representative governance is different. The task is not simply to know one's ways around City Hall, or to have a background in public policy. The task is to represent the interests of the electorate. And, we all know that plenty of politicians do not. I'm NOT suggesting any nefarious intent on the part of your candidate. I'm merely suggesting that political acumen and experience is only part of what a good candidate should be judged on. And, to take it a step further, I'd say that runs second to moral character, good intentions, and sound judgement. Again, I'm not suggesting Mr. Moss doesn't have these qualities, or represent the interests of D10 voters. I'm only saying that while voters must decide who is competent and capable, as you suggest, that this must be weighed against other factors in order to assess to what ends that candidate will use their abilities and talents when in office.
I am voting for Moss because I think rent control should be overturned. San Francisco is a beautiful city - and many people want to live here. The folks who cannot afford it can move to the suburbs and commute in on Bart and Caltrain. Those of us who have our families homes, or have done very well in business deserve to be rewarded for our investments.

ReplyDeleteHe's the only candidate who came to our house and introduced himself. I have to do more research, but this gives him a leg up in my book.
ReplyDeleteHe's committed to our community. He really knows out community and will be able to serve us well.
ReplyDeleteI think he is the best person for the position.
