Hero Nominations Underway for Seventh-Annual Heroes & Hearts Luncheon
San Francisco General Hospital Foundation Seeks Extraordinary Citizens to Honor with Service AwardSAN FRANCISCO (September 13, 2011) - San Francisco General Hospital Foundation (SFGHF) is currently seeking nominations for its seventh-annual Heroes & Hearts Award, a service award which recognizes humanitarians who live or work in the San Francisco Bay Area. Nominations are now being accepted through Tuesday, November 1, 2011.
"The Heroes & Hearts Award is a tremendous way to recognize individuals who work to create positive change in our community," said San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee. "From saving lives to giving haircuts to the homeless to connecting children with learning specialists, the Bay Area is full of heroes and we have a responsibility to recognize their efforts. I urge everyone to nominate a hero for a 2012 Heroes & Hearts Award today."

Heroes & Hearts Award nominees must reside or work in the San Francisco Bay Area and have demonstrated exemplary service to an individual or the community. Recipients of Heroes & Hearts Awards are selected by a committee comprised of SFGHF Board Members and community members and are honored at the Heroes & Hearts Luncheon on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at AT&T Park.
San Francisco General Hospital Foundation's Hearts fundraising events include the Heroes & Hearts Luncheon and Hearts After Dark (click links for videos). Attended by upwards of 850 guests, the Heroes & Hearts Luncheon is a daytime gala that auctions heart art and honors local humanitarians with the Heroes & Hearts Award. Hearts After Dark is an evening party held after the luncheon featuring live music and dancing that draws over 800 attendees.
Last year's heroes include Superior Court Judge Mary Morgan, Parents Education Network founder Dewey Rosetti, San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center's Dr. Shannon Thyne, and San Francisco Education Fund volunteer John Weidinger.
Event sponsors as of September 13, 2011 include Cummins West, Inc., Chevron Energy Solutions, Kalmanovitz Charitable Foundation, Stanley S. Langendorf Foundation, UnitedHealth Group.
