SF Bee-Cause Honey Sale

Rain or shine, this Sunday 12/2 (11 AM-3 PM), and next Saturday 12/8 (10 AM-2 PM), San Francisco Bee-Cause is having their first honey sale at The Bee Farm.

On both days, they'll be having kids' activities and, at 12 Noon, a Community Farm Tour to share their general plan for developing the flora of the site and getting input and ideas from the community.

They'll be selling honey produced by their honey bee colonies who have been busy collecting nectar from flowers in different areas of town.

Their honey will be sold in glass queenline jars for $10 each (cash only):
- Hayes Valley Farm made by bees from flowers in and around the "Permaculture freeway food forest"
- San Francisco Urban Farm made by bees from a blend of nectars collected in and around Hayes Valley Farm and Alemany Farm
- Inner Mission made by bees hived on South Van Ness, between 20th and 21st Streets
- Pollinator Garden ˆ made by bees foraging in and around the Bernal Cut and Holly Park area

A jar of honey would make a great gift for friends, family and co-workers ˆ made by local bees from local flowers and benefiting a local non-profit. Proceeds from the holiday honey sales will be used to support their volunteer work at The Bee Farm during 2013.

The Bee Farm is located at 3299 San Bruno Ave (at Ordway).

And if you are interested in helping on either or both honey sale dates, please do! Since they are doing only 4 hours each day, any 2-hour commitment would be great.

For 12/2: 11AM-1PM or 1-3PM
For 12/8: 10AM-12Noon or 12Noon-2PM

Send an email to Karen Peteros if you can help out. They have some cute wings and antennae headbands for volunteers to wear (if they wish), and volunteers get a special "thank you" treat. If you have beekeeping experience, our honey bee colonies are now on-site and they are sure they'll get lots of "bee questions." Having you available to "talk bees" would be great.
