Over the last year, Forest City (creators of the 5M Project) has been working on a project to rebuild a 28 acre section of the eastern waterfront of SF - due East of the Dogpatch - called Pier 70. You may be familiar with some of the great old brick buildings and the history of the area (we actually documented it with Wendy McNaughton), but most of the site is closed off, so you can't really access the water.
We just finished a "Master Plan" for the future of the site and are doing a tour and open house on February 13th to discuss the details.
Please join us if you interested in seeing how large areas of the city get researched, planned, and rebuilt.
Here are the details for the event:
Date: Wednesday, February 13th
Time: 5pm site tour, 6pm presentation and workshop
Place: Noonan Building, Pier 70, Building 11, San Francisco, CA 94107 (map)
RSVP: http://pier70planopenhouse2.eventbrite.com
