SFPL's Linda Brooks-Burton

Sad news from the SF Public Library today, as we find out that Linda Brooks-Burton passed away yesterday.  As one might expect, she will be sorely missed.  From the SFPL website,
Linda Brooks Burton is the Southeast District Manager for the San Francisco Public Library. She oversees six branches in the district including the Bayview and Visitacion Valley branches. She has worked for the public library for 30 years and was a manager at the Bayview branch for close to 15 years. She served for three years as a parent liaison to the board of Whitney Young Child Development Center and then for seven more years as secretary to the board. Ms. Burton is the mother of three children ages 21, 20 and 13, each of whom attended Whitney Young Child Development Center (now FACES SF) as young children.
The Friends of the SFPL are continuing their fundraising program, selling bricks from the old library, with future donations being made in honor of Linda.
A limited number of salvaged bricks from the Bayview/Anna E. Waden Branch Library will be available for a donation of $50 to the Bayview Library Campaign, which is raising money to cover the cost for furniture fixtures and equipment at the new branch. Salvaged bricks will be engraved with the following message:
Bayview/Anna E. Waden
Branch Library
1969-2011
Donations for the bricks will be put towards the Bayview Bricks and Books Fund in Honor of Linda Brooks-Burton. There are only 80 bricks left, so please make your donation today!
