Community Bike Builds Offer Free Transportation for Low-Income Residents

From SF Bike Coalition:

New bicycle shops are opening around San Francisco, from Market Street to the Wiggle, and Valencia Street to the top of Bernal Heights. But in the city’s outer neighborhoods, like the Bayview and the Excelsior, residents have few options for buying or repairing their bicycles.
Our solution: Team up with local community-based organizations to organize Bike Build events where we refurbish and give out bikes to those who will benefit most from the affordable transportation.
We are holding a Bike Build in the Bayview this Weekend! We are partnering with City of Dreams, a local youth development organization. Have some bike wrenching skills? Volunteer and help us refurbish the rides. Can’t make the event, but have a bike to donate? Send a note to chema@sfbike.org to make the donation.

Intro to Urban Bicycling Workshop

Sat., Jan. 18 | 1:30-2:45PM | City of Dreams, 1030 Oakdale Ave
Has it been a long time since you've been on a bike or are you new to riding in the city? Come learn the basics at our Intro to Urban Bicycling Workshop.
The course is a one-hour presentation covering the most basics of how to pick the right bike for everyday riding in SF, the rules of the road, and route planning. This course is a great introduction for people who are considering bicycling, or looking to brush up on skills.
