Incidents of Interest:
On October 4th at 1:00 PM, a vehicle in the area of Shelby and Evans was burglarized. The victim was in his work truck when he left the vehicle parked to check on an account. On returning to the car, he observed a suspect leaning into the backseat of the vehicle and removing the laptop that was there. The suspect fled on foot and the victim left the scene to report the incident. Officers searched the area for the suspect but were unable to locate him that day. This incident is under investigation. (SFPD Case No. 110803247)
On October 5th at 12:45 PM, Officers were patrolling in the area of 3rd and Newcomb when they came upon what they believed was a hand to hand drug transaction. They observed a male subject on the corner handing a female subject a small rock, consistant with what crack cocaine looks like. They detained the pair and found that the suspect had two more crack rocks in his hand. The Officers seized all three individually packaged cocaine rocks and placed the suspect into custody. As he was being arrested, the suspect told the Officers the he was “just giving her a hit of crack”. A further search of the suspect revealed a crack pipe in his pants pocket. Additionally, the suspect had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for narcotic related offences. He was booked at Bayview Station. (SFPD Case No. 110803112)
On October 5th, Bayview Plainclothes officers were wrapping up an investigation that they had began in September into a parolee believed to be a mid-level drug dealer living in the Sunnydale Housing Development. They had gathered information regarding his current residence and vehicle and decided to head to the location to check it out. While in the area, they saw the suspect walking to a car with his girlfriend. They stopped the couple and conducted a parole search on the suspect. The search revealed house keys which they used to gain entry into their residence.
While conducting a search inside, Officers numerous cocaine rocks in a plastic bag inside a cup on the kitchen counter, a black plastic bag inside of a crock pot that contained two separate plastic bags, each filled with crack cocaine rocks. Another bag in the crock pot contained methamphetamine. They also found several digital scales which had narcotics residue on their surface. Both the suspect and his girlfriend were placed under arrest and booked at Bayview Station for numerous drug related charges as well as a parole violation. (SFPD Case No. 110804154)
On October 5th at 6:40 PM, Officers responded to a youth center on the 5000 block of 3rd St. regarding a fight. They found three victims, 13 to 18 years old inside the center who looked disheveled and had complaints of pain as a result of the fight. The Officers were told that the three girls, all friends were assaulted by nine girls who had entered the center and began attacking the three by punching them and hitting them with chairs. The victims fought back but were outnumbered. All nine suspects ran away on foot and were identified by the victims as students at a local high school. The fight apparently stemmed from a dispute earlier in the year between the two groups. Arrests are expected soon in this incident. (SFPD Case No. 110804251)
On October 6th at midnight, a victim got off the bus in the area of San Bruno and Felton and was walking north toward San Bruno and Silver to catch the next line when he passed a group of three suspects who suddenly surrounded him. The victim stated that one of the suspects pointed a handgun at him while the other two went through his pockets, taking his iPod, cell phone, and wallet which contained $314.00. The suspects then fled on foot and the victim was able to flag down a squad car to report what had just happened.
The officers immediately put out the description of the suspects and in short order, two suspects who matched the broadcasted descriptions were located and detained by responding units at San Bruno and Sweeny. They were positively identified by the victim as the assailants who took his property. Both were placed under arrest. One of the suspects had the $314 in his pocket. The rest of the stolen property was located on the ground near the location that the suspects were detained. Both were booked on robbery and conspiracy charges. The third suspect was searched for but not located that morning. An investigation into his identity is ongoing. (SFPD Case No. 110805005)

On October 6th between 7:00 AM and 11:00 AM, a house in the area of Jerrold and Dormitory was burglarized. The victim stated that she had left the front door unlocked when she left the premise and returned to find all her televisions (3 of them) stolen. There was no sign of forced entry and it is believed the suspect entered and left through the unlocked front door. This incident is under investigation. (SFPD Case No. 110806138)
On October 6th at 9:00 AM, Officers responded to the area of Kansas and 23rd regarding a robbery. The victim stated that she was walking in the area while talking on the phone when she was approached by a suspect who grabbed the phone away from her and fled. The victim stated that she attempted to hold on to the phone but was terrified and let go out of fear that he would hurt her. She was able to give a general description of the suspect but the Officers could not locate him that morning after a thorough search. This incident is under investigation. (SFPD Case No. 110805431)
On October 6th at 5:30 PM, Officers in the area of 3rd and Newcomb came upon a double parked car that was impeding the flow of traffic. After several blasts of the horn failed to get the vehicle going, the officers made contact with the driver. The driver of the vehicle felt that he was entitled to double park in front of his residence. This line of thinking was bad luck for his passenger though, because he had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest out of Minnesota. The passenger was arrested and booked on his warrant and should now be on his way back to Minnesota where it is very cold. (SFPD Case No. 110807067)
On October 6th at 6:30 PM, Officers responded to a home on the unit block of Bertha Lane regarding a family dispute. A family member told the Officers that she had had a fight with her daughter and wanted her arrested on her outstanding warrant because she needed to go back to jail to “get clean”. The mother stated that her daughter had left the house when the police was called and asked the Officers to look for her in the area. The Officers located the suspect nearby on the 1100 block of Hudson. She admitted to having an argument with her mother and to having a warrant for her arrest for auto theft. The warrant was confirmed and she was booked at Bayview station (SFPD Case No. 110669805)

SAN FRANCISCO POLICE URGE SAFETY AWARENESS
San Francisco police are urging the public to be vigilant about their safety in public, particularly when using Muni.
• While on Muni vehicles and at Muni bus stops and platforms, citizens are urged to be vigilant about their surroundings and to note any suspicious activity. While on Muni buses, be wary of persons standing especially close or jostling, which may indicate a possible pickpocket or robbery attempt. While waiting for a bus, try to be at a location where there are other persons waiting with you. If you are the only person waiting, go to another stop where there are others waiting. Be aware of pick-pockets. An old San Francisco trick to guard against pickpockets is to wrap a rubber band around your wallet and place your wallet in your pocket as the rubber will catch on your clothing. Its time tested. It will drive the crooks - pickpockets crazy. Plus you will always have a rubber band. Be alert...
• Be especially careful when using electronic devices on transit vehicles. Opportunist criminals know that a person talking on a cell phone, listening to an i-Pod, or texting, is distracted and thus an easy target. Try to avoid using any electronic device while seated or standing near the rear exit of a transit vehicle, since this door provides a quick exit for grab-and-run suspects.
• If it essential for you to use an electronic device on the street, be aware that you may be a target for theft. Opportunist criminals, sometimes operating in groups, look for people using these devices and often will approach a victim from behind, knowing that the person talking on a cell phone, texting, or using an i-Pod is distracted. Some of these criminals could be armed. Do not be so preoccupied that you become unaware of your surroundings and not notice a person or persons nearby acting suspiciously.
• Immediately report any robbery by calling 9-1-1 or 415-553-0123
