From SFGate, and Op-Ed from D10 Supervisor Malia Cohen,
More than a year ago, the city of San Francisco applied for a state grant for a 100-bed shelter at 2115 Jennings St. in the Bayview. The Bayview community is not an area that lacks homeless services. We have a homeless shelter that is not filled every night. We have multiple transitional housing properties; we have methadone van and needle-exchange programs; and several food pantry services.
Instead of conducting a comprehensive survey and evaluation of these existing homeless services, the city unilaterally determined that a new 100-bed shelter at 2115 Jennings is essential.Read more at SFGate
