Shipyard Trust for the Arts (STAR) hosts the Annual Art Auction on Sat Oct. 29 and Sun Oct 30, 2011. Proceeds benefit STAR, the organization that has helped keep arts at the shipyard for over 30 years. There is a silent auction all weekend and a live auction, which is juried by prominent SF art professionals:  dealer George Krevsky of George Krevsky Gallery and Maria Medua, Director of SFMOMA’s Artist Gallery. The live auction is Sunday at 12 pm.

Funds raised by the auction also support efforts to continue STAR’s programs, including an 18-month Artist-in-Residence Program and the “Pass It On” Program, providing free art workshops to non-profits in the surrounding Bayview-Hunters Point community.  The Auction is part of Fall Open Studios at the Hunters Point Shipyard and Islais Creek Studios, when over 150 artists open their studios to the public.

This is a great opportunity to add to your art collection.  Bid on a wide range of works donated by these talented artists.  Select from paintings, prints, watercolors, jewelry, sculpture, photography, and wearable art. See more information about the artists at www.shipyardartists.com.

You may view the artwork donations online in advance of the auction by visiting the website www.shipyardtrust.org and going to the auction link.  Directions are also on the website.
