On September 9th at 2:30 PM, Bayview Plainclothes Officers and several parole agents responded to a house on the 1900 block of Oakdale to conduct a parole search. This stemmed from an arrest a few days prior where a parolee was arrested with a handgun in the area of 3rd and Salinas on September 4th (9/7 Re-Cap). The suspect was in custody however Officers believed that there may be more weapons in his home.
They arrived and found an additional resident standing outside the front door. When they announced their intention to search the home, he slammed the door in their face. After more knocking, a second subject finally opened the door for the Officers and showed them the bedroom that belonged to the parolee who was arrested with the gun in the 9/4 incident.
A search of the bedroom yielded a cache of shotgun shells stuffed inside a boot that was on the bedroom floor, but no shotgun. The Officers saw that the window of the bedroom opened to a landing between the buildings. That landing boasted a fire escape to the roof. The officers gave it a shot and ascended the ladder, noting once on top of the building that the particular ladder they climbed was the only access to the roof. Immediately they noticed a plastic bag on the roof. The bag contained a box of .45 caliber ammunition, which was the same type of ammunition as found in the gun that the parolee was arrested with. They found a duffel bag on the roof as well. This bag contained a .20 gauge shotgun and a .357 handgun. They seized this evidence.
One of the subjects inside the residence, a probationer who had initially slammed the door against the Officers, had a peculiarly strong smell of vinegar about him. The smell of vinegar is associated with heroin, which smells almost identical to vinegar. A search of the suspect yielded 17 individually wrapped packets of heroin and 10 individually wrapped packets of crack cocaine from his underwear. He was placed under arrest. The second individual in the residence was found to be on active parole and was also arrested. Both suspects were interviewed and booked at Bayview station (SFPD Case No. 110725629)
