This Mendell Plaza location is a huge transit hub, and it needs to be treated as such. Along with increasing numbers of cyclist and pedestrians, the 23, 24, 44, and 54 buses, as well as the T-Third light rail, all make stops in this immediate area, leading to thousands of people passing through here every day. With the Bayview Opera House providing more activities, new restaurants like Radio Africa and Old Skool Cafe opening up, and the new SF Public Library opening next month, this area will only get busier.
It's time for MTA to purchase the building for whatever amount the current owner is asking, tear it down, and build a light, airy structure that would be an asset to our community.
