Next to the San Francisco city limits sign on the east side of gritty Bayshore Boulevard in Visitacion Valley, stands, of all things, a log cabin. OK, it isn't a real log cabin: It's a conventional frame building whose redwood logs are only decorative. But it has a much greater claim to fame than mere architectural authenticity.
