Oversize Vehicle Parking Restriction - public hearing 1/31

Red: Implemented summer 2013
Purple: Proposed January 2014
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) would like to update you on proposed locations for the oversize vehicle overnight parking restriction created in fall 2102 by the Board of Supervisors.

Transportation Code Section 7.2.54 prohibits overnight parking of oversize vehicles (longer than 22 feet or taller than 7 feet) wherever the restriction is duly designated and posted. The SFMTA implemented an initial set of locations for use of the oversize vehicle restriction last summer and carried out a three month evaluation of those initial locations; you can read the SFMTA's evaluation and recommendations for the oversize vehicle overnight parking restriction here (PDF, 1 Mb).

A further list of locations for the oversize vehicle overnight parking restriction has been developed and is now coming to public hearing on January 31 and February 14:
SFMTA Engineering Public Hearing
January 31 & February 14, 10:00 AM
City Hall, Room 416
The list of proposed locations can be reviewed on the hearing agenda, posted here (PDF, 160 Kb), as well as via a detailed map showing the proposed locations across the city (PDF, 5.2 Mb). These locations are based on requests and recommendations from community members, district Supervisors, SFMTA engineering and enforcement staff, and SF Police Department officers. Because of the need to notify the public about these proposed restrictions and the considerable interest in the use of this restriction, the full list of locations in the published agenda will be heard over the next two public hearings, on January 31 and February 14. Public comment is welcome on any of the locations at either of the hearings.

Opinions on these proposed changes may be filed in writing prior to the hearing by email sent to sustainable.streets@sfmta.com with the subject line "Public Hearing".

Written opinions may also be transmitted to the SFMTA's Sustainable Streets Division via fax at 415-701-4737 or by mail sent to:
Engineering Public Hearing
Sustainable Streets Division
One South Van Ness Avenue, 7th Floor
San Francisco, CA 94103-5417
Submitted opinions will become part of the official public record and will be brought to the attention of the presiding hearing officer.
