Gun violence task force

In a statement released Thursday Supervisor Malia Cohen called on city departments as well as community leaders to come together to address the specific issue of gun violence in our city. While we have a proportionally smaller number of homicides and shootings compared to other large cities in the United States. The problem is a critical public health issue that must be addressed. Half way through 2014, 20 lives have been stolen from families and the community. Countless others have been permanently scarred by the trauma of experiencing a shooting and/ or homicide.
On Tuesday, Supervisor Cohen is requesting your presence at a press conference as she calls the much needed and deserved attention to this City wide issue.
Who: Supervisor Malia Cohen, DCYF, DPH, SFPD, District Attorney, Public Defender’s Office, SFUSD, SFMTA, Housing Authority, other city departments and community leaders across San Francisco.

Where: San Francisco City Hall, Van Ness Ave. stairs (w/ possibility of moving to Polk St. stairs)
