Packers Player From Bayview Honored At City Hall

A San Francisco native who plays for the Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers was honored at today's Board of Supervisors meeting for his accomplishments.

Desmond Bishop, 26, is a linebacker on the Packers, which won the NFL championship over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Feb. 6.

Bishop is also a native of San Francisco's Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood with a large family still living in the area. Many of his family members showed up at today's board meeting, where he was honored along with other community members as part of Black History Month commendations.

Malia Cohen among new SF supervisors - SFGate

Malia Cohen was on a City Hall field trip in third grade when Dianne Feinstein, who was mayor of San Francisco at the time, invited the class into her office. The young student was hooked.

"It wasn't just the grandeur of the rotunda that really left an impression on me. It was also Mayor Feinstein, who talked about working in public service," said Cohen, now 32. "I knew I wanted to work at City Hall."
