Breaking Ground on Affordable Housing at the Shipyard

AMCAL Multi-Housing, one of California’s leading builders of workforce and affordable housing, in partnership with Bayview-based Young Community Developers, Inc., a 40-year old community based organization, which trains residents of the Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood of San Francisco for employment, is starting construction on 60 affordable family apartments at The San Francisco Shipyard development in southeast San Francisco. The project will be affordable to households earning no more than 50 percent of the San Francisco median income and is scheduled to be completed in 2016.

The project will consist of 60 affordable apartments, which include one, two, and three-bedroom units as part of the inclusionary affordable housing in Lennar Urban’s first phase of the Shipyard development.

The project is being developed in cooperation with the San Francisco Office of Community Investment and Infrastructure, with financing assistance by Bank of America.
“YCD is excited to be a partner in construction of the first affordable housing units available to the community. We look forward to making sure that residents in the Bayview are a part of the project and have access to living in the new apartments.”
