Meeting:
Visitacion Valley Library Community Room
Leland Avenue at corner of Rutland Avenue
AGENDA:
The two presentations scheduled for this meeting are about proposed projects on opposite sides of the Valley that will define the Valley's future in major, hopefully beneficial, ways. It is critical that our community be a part of the planning for these upcoming changes.
RECOLOGY EXPANSION
Brad Drda from Recology and Dave Johnson from William McDonough Partners will discuss the plans to expand and consolidate Recology's facilities in Visitacion Valley. This project will have a lasting impact on the Valley. Possible traffic, noise, odors, pollution and aesthetic design issues need to be discussed with our community before plans are finalized. We need to insure that the City helps protect and include our community in the planning process. It is our hope that we can work amicably with Recology and the City on this process.
SUNNYDALE DEVELOPMENT
Ramie Dare and David Fernandez from Mercy Housing, which is the developer for the proposed Sunnydale Housing Development, will give an update on the status of the planning process. Over 1,700 units of a mix of market, subsidized and affordable housing, as well as a community garden and social service facilities are planned for the new Sunnydale community. This development, if successful, will be a game changer for the Valley in terms of its character and livability. Most importantly, it will provide a better environment for current Sunnydale residents living in a situation that the City has shamefully created over the years.
