On August 25th at 11:00 AM, Officers were patrolling on the 1700 block of Oakdale. They saw a subject who they knew to be on active parole, with a warrantless search condition, walking down the street. When the suspect noticed the Officers, he quickly put his hands in front of his pants as if concealing something. The Officers decided to conduct a parole search on the subject. The search yielded an AM/FM/CD car stereo receiver in the suspect’s front waistband. He admitted that the car stereo was not his and that he was about to sell it. The Officers also located a screwdriver and 2 crack pipes on the suspect and placed him under arrest.

A call was made to the suspect’s Parole Officer who requested that a parole hold be placed on the suspect. He was booked at Bayview Station. An investigation into locating the victim of the stolen car stereo is ongoing. (SFPD Case No. 110681708)

On August 29th at 11:30 PM, Officers patrolling in the area of Oakdale and Loomis observed a vehicle fail to stop for a stop sign at the intersection. They followed the vehicle which accelerated to approximately 50 MPH in a 25 MPH zone and successfully pulled it over at Napoleon and Jerrold. When they made contact with the driver, they noticed that he appeared heavily intoxicated. He had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of alcohol emanating from his breath. It took them several times ordering him out of the car before he finally complied.

The driver was asked if he had been drinking and he replied, “No. I don’t drink”. However, the Officers observed that there was a 40 oz bottle of Miller beer in the car that only had 1/3 of it’s contents remaining. The Officers gave the suspect several sobriety tests, which he failed, and placed him under arrest. After taking a breath test with a result of .227% blood alcohol level (legal limit is .08), the suspect refused to cooperate further and had to get a mandatory blood draw pending conclusive results of his inebriation. A record check revealed that the suspect was on active probation for driving under the influence out of Alameda County. He was booked on multiple charges at Bayview Station. (SFPD Case No. 110694808)

On August 30th at 2:00 AM, an attempted burglary took place at a business on the 2500 block of 3rd St. A vigilant neighbor heard the noise coming from the suspect trying to break in and was able to scare him off. The suspect was last seen fleeing the scene in a white van. (SFPD Case No. 110695925)
That same morning at 3:30 AM, Officers responded to a burglar alarm on the 1300 block of Fairfax. On their arrival, they discovered a ladder propped up against the building, leading to an open second story window. They conducted a building search but did not find anyone inside. The owner of the warehouse responded and after surveying the establishment stated that although it was obvious that drawers and cabinets had been rummaged through, nothing appeared to be taken. There were fingerprints and smudges on the open window that most likely were made by the suspect and the crime lab was called in to collect the evidence. (SFPD Case No. 110694977)

Later at 5:40 AM, another burglary took place at a restaurant at 3rd and Evans. The suspect entered by breaking a window. On August 30th at 5:10 PM, Officers responded to the area of 3rd and Palou regarding a fight involving a subject with a gun. Multiple units responded to the area along with officers of the Violent crime Task Force. As these Officers got closer to the intersection, they observed a large crowd frantically running from the 1500 block of Palou. Assuming that that was where the incident originated, they drove towards the area. They saw a subject run and duck behind a sports utility vehicle as he watched another squad car drive by. When the car passed his hiding spot, he got up and began to walk away. The officers observed that he had a chrome handgun in his hand. He suddenly noticed the Officers and began running toward a large Recology debris box where he briefly ducked behind before running out the other side. The Officers stopped him without incident and placed him under arrest. The .38 caliber handgun was found in plain sight lying at the curb line near the debris box. The Officer who was securing the gun was surprised to find another weapon directly underneath the debris box. This was a sawed off shotgun partially concealed in a bag. The officer secured both weapons.

An off-duty police officer from Atlanta happened to be in the area at the time of the original altercation and came forward as a witness. He identified an individual already detained by other Officers as having threatened to shoot another subject in the altercation. He was placed under arrest. A third individual detained by police for further investigation was found to have a no bail warrant for his arrest and taken into custody. Gun shot residue tests were performed on all of the suspects at Bayview Station with results pending. All three suspects were booked for weapons and warrant charges. (SFPD Case No. 110697084)
