On September 11th at 5:50 PM, Officers responded to a call of a fight involving a gun inside a gas station in the area of San Bruno and Dwight. As they were arriving, they saw a van driven by a woman exiting the parking lot at a high rate of speed. The car ran through several stop signs at a high rate of speed and presented a danger to other cars and pedestrians. The officers followed the car and attempted to stop it. The driver continued on, briefly stopping over at Brussels and Bacon. The Officers got out of the vehicle to contact the occupants, but it turned out that the car only stopped so that the driver and her male passenger could switch seats inside the van before taking off again.

They led the Officers on the I 280 freeway where at one point they stopped suddenly and almost causing a pile up. They made a u-turn on the freeway and got off at the exited on the 25th and Indiana ramp. The Officers pursued the car that continued on city streets and finally stopped on a hill at 25th and Dakota. The driver and passenger got out of the car and ran in separate directions while leaving the van in gear. The Officer that went to secure the van had it suddenly begin to roll backwards on him. He looked in the direction of the roll and saw children playing at the bottom of the hill along with bystanders. He pushed with all his might against the force of the van and held it for the crucial seconds it took for Officers to clear the area of people before he finally fell to the ground from exhaustion. The open door of the van rolled right over, narrowly missing him as the vehicle continued down hill and crashed into the concrete staircase of an apartment building. Thankfully nobody was hurt.

Meanwhile, other Officers who had responded to the scene chased and apprehended both suspects. The male suspect had cocaine on his person and there was more cocaine and heroin in the van. No gun was found. There was however, stolen merchandise that was reported from the victim cashier at the gas station the incident originated at. The items were recovered and identified by the victim as belonging to the store. Both suspects were booked on numerous charges at Bayview Station. (SFPD Case No. 110731444)
