On October 28th, officers responded to a home on the 2000 block of 19th St. regarding a burglary. They spoke with the victim who told them that someone had broken into her home while she, her boyfriend, and child were asleep. She went on to say that at about midnight she had placed her laptop computer on a dresser a few feet from her bed and went to sleep. When she awoke at 7:00 AM, she found that the laptop and the iPhone that was next to it were both gone. A search of the residence revealed that the downstairs bathroom window, above the toilet was ajar and there was a shoe print on the toilet seat. The victim stated that that window might have been left unlocked, as it did not appear to have been forced open. Crime Scene Investigations came out to further collect evidence from the scene. This incident is under investigation. (SFPD Case No. 110869465)

On October 24th, a Bayview Inspector was notified by an Inspector from the Northern district that one of our Bayview residents was caught on film placing a backpack into a car. The backpack was later recovered in that district and was found to contain a loaded handgun. The Bayview inspector was asked to be on the lookout for the suspect, who now had an arrest warrant issued for the firearm. Our inspector knew the suspect well from numerous contacts and also knew him to be on active probation for burglary.

On October 28th at 7:30 am, while the same Inspector was off duty, driving to work to Bayview Station, he happened to see the suspect walking in the area of Phelps and Palou. He stopped the suspect and placed him under arrest. The suspect was transported to Bayview Station where he gave a sample of his DNA and was booked on the firearm charge. (SFPD Case No. 110858800)

On October 28th at 6:10 pm, officers received a tip that a wanted individual was inside an apartment on the 1700 block of 25th St. The suspect was described to the officers with a detailed clothing description. The officers conducted a record check and after confirming that the subject had a no bail warrant for his arrest, responded to the area.

Once there, they noticed a suspect who matched the description they were given walking between the buildings towards Connecticut Street. One of the officers got out of the car and began to follow the suspect while the other took the police vehicle around to the other side in anticipation that the suspect would run. He was right. After looking over his shoulder at the officer several times, the suspect took off running. It was a short chase as he happened to run right into the other officer waiting for him, who successfully took him into custody. He was booked per his warrant. (SFPD Case No. 110870688)

On October 29th at 1:45 am, officers in the area of 3rd and Quesada observed a vehicle stop in a lane of traffic abruptly, causing the vehicle behind it to swerve, narrowly missing a collision. The car that had stopped proceeded to drive again and the officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on it. As soon as the vehicle stopped the passenger exited the vehicle. The officers ordered him back inside but instead, he began to sprint away south on 3rd St. The officers gave chase. He then turned east on Quesada at which point the officers saw him holding something in the area of his front waistband as he ran. After crossing Lane, the pursuing officers saw the suspect remove the item he was holding in his waistband and throw it under a car, where it made a distinct metallic clanking sound. Shortly after this, the suspect began to slow and seeing that the officers behind him would not relent, finally complied with their commands to stop. He was taken into custody and the gun, a loaded .9mm semi automatic, was recovered from under a parked car. A record check on the suspect revealed that he was a convicted felon and a record check on the gun revealed that it had been stolen out of Las Vegas. Both of these facts added additional charges to the already numerous counts he was booked on. (SFPD
Case No. 110871686)

On October 29th at 1:00 pm, plainclothes officers patrolling in the area of San Bruno and Burrows watched two subjects loitering on the corner and following juveniles down the street before coming back to the location, all the while peering over their shoulders. This went on for 20 minutes and the officers found this activity suspicious enough to detain both subjects. A routine record check revealed that one of the suspects had a no bail warrant for burglary and possession of stolen property. He was placed under arrest and later booked at Bayview Station. The second subject was identified and released from the scene. (SFPD Case No. 110827865)

On October 29th, Bayview plainclothes officers received a tip that a parolee at large was staying in an apartment on the unit block of Garlington. They responded to the location to set up surveillance. At 3:00 pm, they observed a subject leave the house and walk to a red car. They were familiar with this subject and knew he was not the suspect they were looking for. A second individual followed by a third left the house and walked to the car as well. The third subject was exactly who they wanted to see. All the suspects got into the car and drove off, only to be stopped by a black and white down the street. The suspect with the no bail parole violation warrant was taken into custody without incident and booked at Bayview Station. (SFPD Case No. 110873400)

On October 30th at 2:20 am, officers were patrolling in the area of Barneveld and Dorman. There was a club event in the area and this type of venue attracts vehicle burglars, as so many patrons attending the event park in the area. The officers were approached by a witness who
told them that he had just seen two suspect break into two cars in the area, remove purses from both and place the bags into a parked Acura.

The officers went to check it out and before long saw two suspects matching the description walking in the area. The witness positively identified them and the officers began to follow while calling for assistance from other units in the area. The suspects tried to run, but they were unsuccessful as they were surrounded and were detained by a unit who blocked their escape route. While they were being detained, the original officers located the Acura that the witness mentioned the suspects used to stash the purses.

The Acura was found parked on the unit block of Dorman. The car was unlocked and when one of the officers shined his light into the passenger compartment, he observed a stack of property and purses piled high in the back seat. A search of the car was conducted and a prescription bottle was found inside in the name of one of the suspects detained. The car also showed as newly purchased by one of the suspects.

As the officers were inventorying the items in the car, a steady stream of victims began approaching, stating that their car had been broken into and identifying items in the Acura as their own. All together, the investigation revealed that at least six cars were boosted with a total of thirteen victims who either had their vehicle damaged and had their items stolen from their cars belonging to either them or their passengers. The victims were reunited with their property and both suspects were booked at Bayview Station. (SFPD Case No. 110874737)

On October 30th at 12:30 pm, officers responded to the area of 3rd and McKinnon regarding a fight. On arrival, they saw three individuals fighting in the street and detained all three. Other units found numerous witnesses to the incident which allegedly went down like this:
Two of the participants of the fight were actually victims and volunteers for the food drive that was being set up in the area. They were stacking food on tables to begin the process of giving out food to the line that was forming. The suspect walked up ahead of everyone and began to take food from the table. One of the victims told her to put it down but she refused. The other victim got involved in trying to get the suspect away from the food tables at which point the suspect became enraged and began pushing the two victim volunteers. The victims began to push back in self defense at which point the suspect pulled out a razor blade and began swinging it at both victims, cutting one in the arm. This was when the police arrived and separated the parties.
The suspect was placed under arrest and was transported to and booked at Bayview Station for aggravated assault with a weapon. The victim who sustained the slash to her arm was transported to and treated at San Francisco General Hospital. (SFPD Case No. 110875860)
